Surf City Hotel

I chose to write about the Surf City Hotel in Long Beach Island, NJ because it is local to both Stockton and where I live. The hotel was built in the late 1800's, and is rumored to be haunted because of a ship wreck that occurred just off of the shore. The ship wreck was the Powhattan accident that occurred on March 1st of 1854. The ship had been making voyages for decades until a storm off the coast of New Jersey ended its journeys. The ship was sailing from port of Le Havre in France to New York City. Aboard the ship was several hundred people, including around 200 German immigrants.
The ship encountered the storm and was sent off course and closer to shore around 5:00 p.m. The ship was then able to remain intact until the next day when it broke apart, resulting in the deaths of between 200 and 365 crew and passengers. This made it one of the worst ship accidents in New Jersey history. This connects to the Surf City Hotel because several of the bodies that washed ashore were taken to the hotel to be identified. Since the bodies were there for a few days, this ended up reportedly turning the place haunted to this current day. Has anyone ever been to this hotel and experienced anything paranormal?
