common myths of children behavior

In our book, there are several different myths that people experience about children behavior. Things such as giving a child candy will make them hyper, a child writing a letter backwards automatically means that they have dyslexia, or even "oh, I'm going to have my child repeat a grade and they'l definitely do better in school." All of these things, in my opinion, are ridiculous.

My wife is a person who is always looking to give somebody a type of disorder. Whether it be ADD, ADHD, OCD, whatever it may be. I sometimes find myself laughing at her because she will talk about our kids and say, "we have to watch out because she may have ADD or OCD" and whenever I ask for her reasoning she gives some off the wall answer or something completely normal for a kid to be doing.

I guess what I am trying to say is do not be so quick to jump to conclusions about your kids. A kid is going to act like a kid and their is nothing we can do about it. More than likely, the parent was the same way if not worse growing up.
