Out of body experiences involve the sensation of floating outside one's body and observing oneself from a third person perspective. They are often reported during near death experiences, extreme stress, or intense meditation. Studies suggest that Out of body experiences may be linked to disruptions in the temporoparietal junction, a brain region involved in integrating sensory information and spatial awareness. While the 10% brain myth is fiction, the brain’s capacity to produce extraordinary experiences like out of body experiences remains a compelling and interesting field of study.
